Overnight oats
Rolled oats soaked overnight in milk and yogurt with chia seeds and maple syrup, ready to eat cold from the fridge with fresh blueberries.
Method
- 1
Put the oats, chia seeds and salt in a bowl and stir them together.
- 2
Add the milk, yogurt, maple syrup and vanilla and stir until no dry oats remain.
- 3
Divide the mixture between two jars or containers and put the lids on.
- 4
Chill overnight, or for at least 6 hours, until the oats are soft and have soaked up most of the liquid.
- 5
Stir in the morning, adding a splash of milk if the oats are thicker than you like.
- 6
Top with the blueberries and eat cold.
Notes
- Covered in the fridge, they keep for up to 3 days, so a batch can cover several breakfasts.
- Chia seeds absorb liquid and give a thicker, almost pudding-like set. Leave them out for a looser texture.
- Use rolled oats rather than instant oats, which turn mushy, or steel-cut oats, which stay hard.
